Tobacco's 'genie' is out of the bottle and on file at local courthouse
April 8, 1995-Secret documents suggesting that tobacco company executives knew about the health risks of smoking decades ago have been popping up across the Unites States. They also made their way into the Palm Beach County Courthouse. Responsible for this maneuver is West Palm Beach lawyer Robert Montgomery, who is heading up the legal team handling the state's suit against 11 tobacco companies. This achievement may mark the first time that an attorney has succeeded in entering the records in the court file for an anti-industry case.
